disproportions and derangements'
Another popular historical narrative is what is known as the tripartite periodization of ancient, medieval, and modern. Within this largely western view of the three-part ages sits the notions of history either as continued progress or as waves of progress and decline.
This latter perspective was popularized in the twentieth century by historian Oswald Spengler and his work Decline of the West (first volume published in 1918).
Another narrative of historical perspective is the one belonging to the Traditionalist School whose foremost proponents have been,
...and others.
The historical narrative of the Traditionalist School is one that identifies modernity as a phase of decline, largely through increased materialism and a rejection of sacred, transcendental or metaphysical values.
In the words of Guenon,
Through a veiling or rejection of sacred influences, forces of reason, dry intellect, and scientific rationalism came to dominate the western, and then later the global, narrative.
Because the global narrative is the consequence of a globalizing force of military-industrial dominance and power, the westernized phase of materialism and profane living has become the exported perspective.
This view has also been transmitted through channels of social programming and conditioning, such as via the media and the entertainment industry.
The western socio-cultural-entertainment industry has become a global force for a manufactured 'culture-industry' aimed at propagating a secular worldview deliberately void of transcendental and/or developmental impulses.
On the contrary, it has made deliberate efforts to transmit anti-sacred images and messages through inverted means (such as in the rise of satanic symbolism).
In this, Rene Guenon and
the Traditionalist School foresaw the trajectory modernity would
take and predicted the increasing separation from traditional, or
essential, values.
The notion of continual progress is itself a planted narrative that has been made to fit into a modern viewpoint, or what can be called a 'modern mentality.'
And this modern mentality is a perspective that embraces scientific rationalism, technological progress, faith in the civilizational impulse, and the predominance of external action over internal reflection.
Within this mixture is thrown the features of the 'modern character' which is,
It can be said that the abnormal has now become normalized, for all these features are contrary to a more socially cohesive, spirit-driven humanity.
And this may be partly responsible for the acceleration in social breakdown, division, and identity fragmentation, leading to increased socio-cultural conflicts and aggression.
The modern 'reality bubble' under which global
events are being orchestrated may in fact be a giant perceptual
hallucination under which many people have been bewitched.
Yet this is not the clear-cut case it purports itself to be.
There has been material progress and development, yet not in an integral or fully rounded way.
Material comforts as well as needs have been cultivated, along with many unnecessary material attachments. Yet many of these offerings have only served to deepen the indentured situation of the average person, locking them further into a debt-slavery system.
Material offerings and needs have also been central to furthering the split between the organizational power of the few over the freedom of the many.
And these techno-material systems are trending toward greater forms of tyranny and oligarchic control.
As for moral progress, this too is wide open as
secularized societies and cultures promote permissive style
'freedoms' of the human being over inclusion, and responsibility, to
a grander harmonic participation and shared contribution.
Increased leisure time is often more an illusion than a reality, sustained by an endless profusion of entertainments and online and on-demand instant gratifications. Leisure is more at our fingertips rather than our feet.
Moral progress is harder to define or map since it is less tangible, though it's decline is discernible from the march of external events.
In this, the opening decades of the third millennium have been marred by asymmetrical conflict, guerilla-style warfare, financial combat, global and political corruption, and the increasing dehumanization of large numbers of people by a few powerful psychopaths bent on national and international domination.
The further the human being drifts away from
sacred influences, the easier it becomes to be corrupted by the
'normalizing' forces of immorality.
Whereas the 'essence consciousness' should be predominant, humans largely function through a false consciousness that results from their social and cultural conditioning.
In this, the individual has become increasingly closed to sacred influences and, although they may not know it, are then dominated through the inculcated programs of cultural automatism.
The moral compass of the age is drawn from the dominating consensus morality of the people of its time.
And this pool of consensus morality is, by and large, a product of the consensus programming that is trickled down from the governing and authoritative structures of that age, taking into account the relativity of national geographies.
However, due to the globalizing swell of geo-politics and the culture-industry, these variations are not as varied as many people may still like to think.
A case in point is,
These technocratic notions, however, were initiated by a relatively few individuals, groups, and clubs, that have a vested interest in a technologically managed future...
The future of life on this planet - from the environment, to energy, finance, governance, well-being, and much more - are now said to be needing technological solutions geared to our human betterment.
Never is it said, or little mentioned, that
humanity has drifted out of synch or contact with its sacred
knowledge and is in collective amnesia to cosmic truths.
The forms of consciousness, or conscious expression, now more favored is what I have referred to previously as the 'machinic consciousness.' ii
The carbon-based biological human being is quickly becoming demonized as 'un-modern' and therefore incapable of adapting to its future trajectory.
Yet this is more of the same wishful programming coming from a minority of voices who have influence over a majority of cultural platforms.
Hence, a minority voice travels far and travels loud.
Also supporting this techno-ideology is an environment quickly becoming transformed into a landscape more amenable for 'connected devices' than it is for individualized, biological humans.
If you are not connected 'to the Grid,' as the slogan will soon say, then you are out of the game.
The modern world, and modern life as such, is greatly compartmentalized.
The integral nature of higher-order perceptual understanding is substituted by socio-cultural systems that make divisions between the secular life and the sacred.
...and so on.
This compartmentalized thinking is driven into perceptual boxes that slot together to make the overall dominant reality set.
As I have written about before,
The icon or sigil of these so-called modern times is the counterfeit - the fake substitute.
We are living in the shadows cast by artificial
light, whilst the genuine sun shines on outside (obscured by
chemtrails).
It may be artificial, yet it has usurped our natural environment, like the predator or parasite, and has thrown out all that went before it.
Since the machine cannot be humanized, the
human
must therefore be mechanized.
The materialist cloak has done a good job of veiling the sacred or metaphysical influences that penetrate our world.
And within this slumbering can be counted the majority of people whether in the western or eastern, northern or southern hemispheres.
As the fault lines of modernity increasingly crack open, slumbering minds and faculties of perception will begin to awaken. Yet these shall be in degrees.
Awakening to external irregularities or
abnormalities is not the same as being aware or perceptive to the
understanding inherent in metaphysical influences.
These are the individuals seeking for initiation - for a taste, a glimpse, a connection with the sacred, with the Source or the Absolute.
And yet, such a person finds themselves mired in the complexities and intricacies of material reality.
And this has become a major fault line within a
modern globalist world order as temporal power is dictated by, and
from, a base that is devoid of sacred impulses.
In this way, it can be viewed as being solidly secular and deeply profane for it dismisses the sacred and ignores the spirit.
Modernity has become a dominant economic and quantifiable project where Nature can be stamped, sealed, and sold as tokenized financial assets.
What this displays is an exteriorization of vision that supplants the interior imagination.
As the sage Setsuna once said:
