Sanctuary Imagery Blog

My project in Sanctuary is in one of the lowest population density areas in the world where the word pristine still has some meaning.

In the area many even drink the Divine Wine or what is known as Ayahuasca, which is a very potent plant medicine and is what many consider a spiritual teacher plant. It is used primarily for physical, psychological and spiritual healing.

The main function of Ayahuasca is to repair the body as well as the wounded human soul. Interesting that it is legal in both Brazil and the United States. Purifying and cleansing ourselves brings about a sense of lightness, a greater sense of ease and movement within our bodies.

Life force can flow through us with less effort, with more power. Rarely does this happen if we are toxic. The above picture is from the last fifty meters of a river that meets another just 100 yards below the retreat survival center we hope to restart and finish building this year.

One can drink right from this river 365 days a year though when it rains it surges up and last year washed our suspension bridge away.

This photo is the same river area at the foot of our land taken when the river is up during the rainy season.

It matters where we live and it matters where we heal and often the only way we can cure ourselves of the diseases we have is to retreat back to nature to detoxify our mind, body and spirit. The most toxic place to be is in a hospital and of course most cities are toxic gas chambers.

I am surprised that there are no pleas to help escape the unfolding disaster in the first world.

I started talking about Sanctuary three years ago. I hope that things will remain standing in commodity countries like Canada and Brazil but there is no previewing with clarity what a collapse of the first world will engender.

I feel anxious and it is difficult to plan ahead because so many things are in the process of falling apart. But I am already in the southern hemisphere and for all the money in the world would not want to be in the States or in Europe.

As I was writing this we have The Space and Science Research Center (SSRC), warning of imminent crop damage expected to produce food and ethanol shortages for the US and Canada:

Over the next 30 months, global temperatures are expected to make another dramatic drop even greater than that seen during the 2007-2008 period.

As the Earth’s current El Niño dissipates, the planet will return to the long term temperature decline brought on by the Sun’s historic reduction in output, the on-going “solar hibernation.”

In follow-up to the specific global temperature forecast posted in SSRC Press Release 4-2009, the SSRC advises that in order to return to the long term decline slope from the current El Niño induced high temperatures, a significant global cold weather re-direction must occur.

I called Director John Casey from the SSRC and even though he is forecasting a return to a worsening cooling trend cooling is hitting with record breaking cold during May in many parts of the United States and in the rest of the world. The sun continues to be blank of sun spots and if you have not already seen my site on climate change please visit.

Two years ago I had a retired midwife from Canada invest and she now has a place of her own just a few hundred yards away.

It’s the place where I will go if there is a widespread collapse in Brazil or if there is a nuclear war for Sanctuary is situated in a valley ringed by mountains and ridges. Meanwhile we will continue to live in a delightful city on the Brazilian coast but will support all aspects of the project from a distance except when I go on my own healing retreats.

But it will be no joke living in any city in the world if things collapse down as far as they are previewed to. As I say these words I know few can stomach the truth though I am not the only one shouting out this message.

Recently, Republican Sen. Judd Gregg of New Hampshire stated his fears that the United States is on a course for economic disaster.

The overwhelming debt and exploding deficits will lead to,

“the financial meltdown of our nation,” Gregg said.

Tie that in with crop failures and food shortages and winter weather that gets colder and colder and do we need to know anything else to do everything we can to get out?

I know the virtual impossibility of this for most people; pulling up ones roots is not only not easy but very expensive in our modern world. Some say that people who can already afford to pick up and leave the country or have their feet in two places have already done that.

The ones who can afford it have already purchased land abroad and are moving their assets out.

The vast majority of people though are continuing to live their daily life without much of a clue of what forces are butting up against the human race and that is why I wrote Into the Ashes. We humans have made muck out of things and in our arrogance we think we are better than we are despite all of our mistakes.

Cash karma time for the human race.

Special Musical Note

I talked recently to Bryun Kayler, who is without doubt and extraordinaire guitarist.

I am presenting links below to his music not only because many of you will enjoy sampling his music but also because he will donate 50% of music sales to our Sanctuary Retreat Center Project.

His overwhelming passion for his instrument and his music has produced an incomparable guitar style that has him using all his fingers simultaneously, like a keyboardist, creating truly astonishing results.

He can play the bass part, rhythm (accompaniment) and melody together for each of his unique and amazing arrangements or compositions, while at the same time embellish them with harp-like arpeggios, generating a rich, full-bodied sound. His songs contain great melodies, a good musical feel and catchy, clever songs that stick with you.

Kayler has his music for sale at CD Baby. The web addresses are listed below.

Download MP3s (album or singles) or go to LINKS section of each individual page for a list of digital stores such as iTunes, PayPlay, Emusic, etc.

Sanctuary in Brazil
by Mark Sircus

from IMVA Website

We are a couple hundred meters down from the high
point of the chapada in a deep valley where the rivers
meet; a place where the water will never run out.

My older readers know of my project in the interior highlands of Brazil.

This picture is the view from the top of the valley and as you can see overpopulation is not a problem here. It was in 1991 that I parachuted into this beautiful region, what’s called the high chapada about 200 kilometers north of Brasilia the federal capital. My heart has made a good home in this beautiful country though presently I live far away on the northeast coast in a modern city.

Brazil, in my and some other peoples’ opinion is probably positioned to have the highest quality of life in the 21st century. It is a vast country with tremendous water resources and an extremely low population density in most areas outside the huge cities like Rio and San Paulo.

There is only two nuclear plants, no coal fired electrical plants emitting friendly CO2 and highly poisonous mercury, plenty of good food and friendly people. We have our problems here but insane economics is not one of them. Brazil has prudently been paying down its international debt for years and is now considered a creditor country with enough money to spare to pay off all its debts if the leaders thought that was a prudent thing to do with the country’s cash.

I have for the last year and a half left the project in hibernation but am now ready to take it out of mothballs. We had run out of money and I was too busy writing and publishing my series of medical books and my one book on the heart, love and the vulnerability of being that I wrote many years ago on the chapada. It was the reason I believe I was sent here.

To write a book (HeartHealth) on love and the nature of the human heart because this is a land that still has heart and soul, at least when it comes to music and football (soccer).

Brazil doesn’t have a government that goes off around the world killing as many people as they want though my son believes that people are not that different meaning if the Brazilian government had the power the Americans did they would be setting sail for misadventures around the world too.

Sorry the Garden of Eden can only be found right now in ones own heart and perhaps with a life partner or a small group consciousness.

The structure and project was originally to be a very exclusive retreat center for healing and the surrounding region is loaded with practitioners of every stripe and more than several of my neighbors in the valley are doctors from Brasilia who have their second homes here. I cried profoundly the day I knew I was going to get this precious piece of land that is surrounded on three sides by two rivers one of which you can drink directly from 365 days a year.

Just in terms of its water resources it’s a water mine and a water park.

This is me walking across the bridge we built that got washed away last year in the rainy season.

The tiny little town of about perhaps a 100 houses is the setting on one side of the river and we are on the other. Right now one has to walk across the stones that are set in the river but that’s impossible when it rains. Part of the project integrates with the town’s people who are simple good folk and some are actually decedents of the slaves that were once in the area.

There are plenty of hippies and end of the world people from Europe and other parts of Brazil there as well.

You can imagine my sadness at even thinking about selling the place but alone I have run into a dead end in terms of financial resources this past year and a half having invested totally in publishing a series of books, second editions and a whole series of web sites.

We have a whole network of affiliates who are supporting our work and we are open to forming partnerships with others to bring IMVA publications into other languages and countries. Already we have IMVAR coming on line in Russia and are trying to do the same in the Far East.

So I am asking for support and even donations to help finish the project and again would even entertain a partner or two. Yesterday I even talked to a woman in Uruguay who owns a land/park with three waterfalls less than a mile upriver and she is open to joining our projects in some way. Certainly I am open to creative input and someone showing up with new energy for our project, though we already have a strong soul imprint.

I put this out just as I publish Into The Ashes, Climate Change and Agriculture News sites suggesting world calamity is just around the corner for humanity and I want my communications and invitations pertaining to our Sanctuary project to be received in this light.

This is an extremely serious moment with a huge part of the world’s population now vulnerable to catastrophe though would you believe, in the city I live, you would never ever think there were problems in the world.

I have published an essay called It Matters Where You Live and it was in great part about mercury pollution, something most people just do not want to talk about.

It would take a lifetime to explore all the sweet spots in the region and really it’s impossible to count all the waterfalls on the high chapada.

Yes some people have all the luck and can live in places like this though it is my belief that we are all going to struggle with what is coming.

When I came to Brazil 18 years ago it was with a prayer answered and when I heard the message (in plain English) I felt Goosebumps and did not doubt for a moment the import of those feelings. I found a home distant from the insanities in medicine and here the government is even friendly to medical alternatives to the point of endorsing the use of herbal therapy, acupuncture and homeopathy in public clinics.

When I shared about our shrine dedicated to Mother Mary with this woman yesterday who owns the land upstream she also felt these Goosebumps. It is my belief that one can set ones sails from such feelings.

In Brazil the most remarkable quality is the heart (warmth) of many of it’s people.

It was a good place I came to 18 years ago. Emigration from ones country is not a little thing but if one is living in the first world and has the resources it’s probably now or never. I would have thought many would have fled the states just because of the mercury pollution.

See the following map:

In Texas the mercury pollution is so intense it was possible for researchers to measure autism prevalence by education district finding of course that areas with the highest mercury emissions had the highest autism rates.

I would have thought things like this would have driven out hordes of people but that is not the nature of people in the first world. Now there are many reasons to try to escape with fewer and fewer that have the resources and courage to do so.

For me and my family Sanctuary is a survival retreat center and we intend to keep living on the coast for as long as possible. I don’t have plans of living in the interior unless the world goes up in smoke, which it might as the clouds continue to darken between Israel, Iran and the United States. I fear the worst in terms of that. Don’t underestimate the need for intense full out war as governments just cannot stand seeing their economies collapse without some external diversion.

It is not my destiny right now to be exploring all the beauty there is to see on the High Chapada though I cannot complain with the ocean and beaches so near by. I have the responsibility to broadcast to the world the news of what is happening in medicine, agriculture, climate, economics and finance.

Luckily I have a builder partner on site that I can trust with my checkbook and my life and his brother is the one who this woman from Uruguay trusts.

So forgive me but understand if I do not respond to casual inquires. It is not really a time for playing around though it is still time for love and not taking oneself and what’s happening in the world too seriously. For me that was my mentor Christopher Hill’s most interesting teaching, thou shall not take thyself too seriously. It was his eleventh commandment.

When I was young I took myself much too seriously and suffered with the terrible disease of self-obsession and self-pity. Luckily through two decades of meditation and devotion to love I found my way out of that nightmare.

If you resonate deeply with what I have written today and my other work and want to get directly involved with me and this project and have a big YES screaming in your head and heart please let me know. Goosebumps only please!

In terms of Sanctuary and getting involved with us please inquire only if you have the strongest feelings about participating and have the resources to do so.

Donations of course will be accepted from anyone wanting to support the IMVA home base that will do everything it can to be a light in the darkening world. It is five years since I wrote an essay called The Dark Ages of Medicine; and even though I wrote years before of everything from the terrorism of the military to the terrorism of money and debt I did not feel the coming dark ages of man as I do now.

So to build a fortress of Light I obviously need a lot of help.

Special Note

Brazil has already emerged from the worst of the recession.

Posting new stock market highs, decreasing unemployment and strong GDP figures which along with all time low lending rates and a pro-active government, Brazil is currently one of the strongest economic powers in the world.

This summer Brazil lent $10 billion to the IMF, which is amazing, given that only a few years ago they were borrowing from the IMF.

Brazil also holds historically high USD deposits (not a very good idea), an abundance of newly discovered oil and an export industry that is going from strength to strength though in the future there is no security as the first world tanks.

Speaking about loyalty and devotion, which are the two ends of the same oar, my entire project at Sanctuary has been dependent on a simple man named Macondes.

He is my builder but now he is also a partner in the project, for without him I simply could not have continued on. He has eight brothers and sisters in the area and I kid with people that he has a cousin behind every tree.

I always remember three years ago leaving him with my blank check book as I had to be elsewhere (with wife and kids) for three months.

A great part of Sanctuary is bound with the local peoples and their support has been crucial.

I fully intend to demonstrate another way of being in the world that transcends social and economic levels. Those of us who have more need a new way of relating to those who are far less fortunate in a material sense if we are ever to see a better world. Seems like the elite have been more like sucking vampires rather than giving, and that’s mostly how we got into the mess we are currently experiencing.

In the next few weeks I will exhibit more pictures as we race to finish Sanctuary.

The structure will also double as a model for my builder Macondes. The mayor of our town helped him organize a building company and we will support and promote him and his team that can provide full support to purchase land and build a survival center for those who have the resources to escape to a warmer and more pristine environment.

He has helped me build my dream and done so even though I live thousands of kilometers away and he has been my highway to the local people and their hearts. His company will be a common ownership company and that’s how we will run everything at Sanctuary.

Also with the launching of my Humane Pediatrics book, probably at the end of this month, we will also inaugurate our FOR THE CHILDREN foundation that will be devoted to bringing a new and better form of pediatric care to the world’s children. We will start that right from the Sanctuary center, the new home of the IMVA, to help the local children in our hidden valley.

I really think it’s going to be a fight for our own and our children’s lives during these next few years and even the most prepared are going to face tough going trying to make it and protect those we love.

When I had trouble with someone trying to steal my land and building away from me last year most of the local town people came to my aid in a formal petition to the judge and that won my cause. Learning to develop deep and meaningful community relationships are important for everyone today because together we will stand, divided we will fall.

That is, by the way, the name of a future essay of mine in progress.

For financial collapses (seems like we are faced with financial and economic chaos at the exact same time Mother Nature is rising up) and ice ages both I recommend buying gold and silver, fleeing to the tropics and purchasing as much survival food as possible.

Vladimir Paar said,

“They might migrate to the south, or might stay, but with a huge needed increase in energy use.”

The Ice Age “could happen in five, 10, 50, or 100 years, or even later. We can’t predict it precisely, but it will come. The reality is that mankind needs to start preparing for the ice age. We are at the end of the global-warming period.

The ice age is to follow.

Paar says it will still be possible for man to survive in the ice age, but the spending on energy will be enormous.

“Food production also might be a problem. It would need to be produced in greenhouses with a lot of energy spent to heat them.”

With prices of food set for large increases, investing in survival foods makes financial sense as well. Everyone who has paper assets should transfer that affluence to gold right now as the ultimate store of wealth that will protect hard work and savings.

Life is going to blow our assumptions right out of the water and you can believe me when I say most people are totally blind about the assumptions they make and the price of being wrong.

Assumptions are one of our basic ego processes, and when they get shattered we tend to shatter. We build much of the edifices of our consciousness on assumptions but in the end, if they crumble, an average person (TV couch potatoes for instance) will go down like the World Trade Towers.

But the cause is not from above (like the planes hitting the top floors) but from below, like in the foundations being blown out at the roots of the structure. In this case it’s the structure of our consciousness and our ability to cope and understand that we need to deal with next.

Rich or poor it does not make a difference when we are challenged beyond our capacity to respond. Assuming that life will go on as it has these past decades is perhaps one of the greatest assumptions most people are making today. The mainstream news media feeds this almost universally-shared assumption, so when this greatest of all bubbles bursts, there will be hell to pay.

Though I was born a Jew, people should appreciate that I am a servant of the Divine Mother Mary - have been visited by her - and have built a shrine for her as the Universal Goddess at my Sanctuary here in Brazil.

Fifteen years ago I have even had my own conversations with God and I wrote them down in writings I call “The Oneness of Being.”

I don’t talk about this kind of stuff much but something must be nudging me in the moment to do so. I guess what I am saying or trying to admit is that I have a divine mission - a deep purpose - that is one of the most precious things one can have in life. Many psychologists define fulfillment in terms of meaning and purpose.

Being the voice in the virtual wilderness is my destiny as long as there is an Internet to shout out onto and as long as I have life and breath.

Yes my purpose has been to lead a revolution in medicine and provide to as much of humanity as possible a life raft of safe and effective medicinals - the kind medical officials and even other people (as we shall see tomorrow) don’t want you to know about or use.

They will let you know medicinals such as baking soda exist but will advertise mostly the downside when the upside is huge and incredibly safe.

Doctors and medical organizations, as well as government officials, love to use fear when talking about medicine, but the greatest thing we should fear is the principles and practices of contemporary medicine.

Imagination is more important than knowledge.
Albert Einstein

I am under no illusion about being divinely led by the nose into what I have discovered, into what I have created.

Funny I did not even open up my imagination until I was about 38, and that’s now 20 years ago. That’s when I started writing my first poetry, which eventually evolved into divine verse. Then divine medicine. I don’t think any of us is that intelligent but when we plug into the divine beings that surround us we get supercharged with what they have to offer our minds and beings.

It is really not a good time in the world to be talking spiritually with so much fanaticism loose in the world. It is my experience that rigid thinking has nothing to do with true spirituality, yet that is the hallmark of much of religious life. Fixed concepts and ideas have drowned out much of the love that we have needed to create both a humane civilization and certainly humane medicine.

This morning I was frustrated because I could not penetrate the veil of the future, could not imagine well enough what needed to unfold for me personally, for Sanctuary here in Brazil, for the IMVA, and also for the world. The shadows were too thick and heavy but I burst through.

It suddenly became obvious to me that if I could not imagine the changes necessary for myself, and if we as a race cannot imagine how we need to be to become a nobler race of beings, neither I nor we will get to a new landing that we can be more proud of.

I suddenly saw the Himalayan Mountains and saw that it was an immense project to visualize humanity in detail as a nobler race.

Creating the full picture would be a long-term detailed challenge but the first piece of the puzzle is clear. Those at the top, those who aspire to take responsibility for the life and wellbeing of others, have to be perfect listeners.

And that is a tall order for it is truly terrible to listen to the things that we don’t want to hear.

If we reach a point that we can listen to anything, even the things that point to our own weaknesses, our own Achilles’ heel(s), then we qualify for the noblest of all the necessary works that there ever was for humanity.

We can become servants of earth, servants of a race of beings whose divine mission and purpose is the evolution of our race as a whole. Perfect listeners cannot separate themselves from anybody or anything because that’s the meaning of listening on a perfect level.

Thank God that it is possible to listen perfectly before we become perfect - so very few human beings have ever reached that state. In fact I don’t believe in perfection though I do believe in pure love.

That too can be ours again, luckily, before we are perfect and in truth, pure love and pure listening are one and the same thing.
